The magic ingredients to a well cooked meal are...
1 Good raw materials and produce
2 Handy tools and gadgets
3 Easy recipes and techniques
I will show you in the following pages that these three points are easy to master and hope to get you well on the way to happiness.
The most important ingredient to a great meal are good raw materials and produce. Every successful top chef will source the best raw materials and then let these itmes speak for themselves. Who hasn't experienced the mouthwatering sweetness of a fresh tomato in summer or a crisp juicy heirloom apple in fall. Great ingredients make every cook shine.
Nowadays every mid-sized grocery store stocks top fresh products, and through the power of the internet specialty items are brought to you in a hurry.
And speaking of those tomatoes and apples I am sure many of you have local farmers markets close by. Don't you think it is the greatest feeling to walk those markets while getting inspired by the bounty of the seasons to create a colorful meal. For myself these moments are quality living at the highest form.
In order to make work with those great ingredients and those easy recipes a pleasure, you will need some tools which belong in every well stocked kitchen.I only talk about essentials which should be in every kitchen to make your cooking life easier. Lots of these items are professional tools used in many restaurant kitchens.
I make recommendations and write reviews of certain items which I myself use in my own home kitchen - Tools and gadgets which proved themselves many times over in the heat of the moment in a professional kitchen environment.
Some are inexpensive and some others are a little pricey but all well worth the investment.
My Philosophy in life is: in order to receive, one has to give - and we all have something to give.
My website is here to give you advice and show you easy recipes.Should you gain some knowledge, then this website will have achieved its goal.
And for those of you who live and breathe food, I have created a little corner on this site where I recommend some books, some movies and DVD's of some TV chefs whom I like and find honest.
There are some excellent movies which have food as its main theme. "The Big Night" being one, "Eat Drink Man Woman" another.
There are several professional magazines which are usually not available in retail stores I will give you a little review and point you in the right direction where you can order those..
Some great books like "Kitchen Confidential" or "Heat" explain the food industry very well, because they were written by people who have been there and i totally agree with most of what they have to say. Then there are as well some great recipe books I will talk about.
The recipes offered on these pages are truly easy recipes and favorites of mine. Many of them I have used and tweaked to my liking.
The Prime Rib recipes for example were a speciality during my time as a chef on the “Royal Viking Sun” - a Luxury cruise liner. Our passengers could never get enough of those salty and tasty pieces.
The different Thai recipes were liked by our guests at "Vong" the Restaurant of Jean Georges Vongerichten. He is in my opinion one of the best chefs in America, who put Thai Fusion cooking on the map.The recipes do have my twist and spin to them.
The Indian Recipes are close to my heart because they mostly stem from my ex-wives family who even though living in the US for close to forty years have never stopped cooking and enjoying the curries and Biryanies of their native India.
Of course there are also Austrian recipes because even though I am now a proud American Citizen I have not forgotten my country of birth, the country which gave me my start and my love for food.
Easy chef recipes.com is a work in progress which will never be finished.More and more people are finding the love for food and cooking and with this love there will also be mastery of the basics, and will make cooking easier and easier.
